Joel Stone
Weekly Report #1
1-26-07
Meeting with worship leader Emily Vermilya spending time getting to know him.

This week I met Emily at her office to talk about what our meetings and activities would look like for the semester. I already know her fairly well, so we did not need to really do the ‘introductory’ conversation starters, so we just jumped into the details for this semester.
We talked about what I wanted to accomplish for this practicum and what I wanted to learn and things I wanted to do. She also spent some time talking about what she had in mind for me to do this semester and some things that she had to challenge me with. I am going to be involved with the morning services in the JC Body shop also with the evening services at College Church and the 747 service. I will be doing things from prayer to helping with communion and being the worship band for Sunday mornings and Sunday nights. I am excited to be a part of leading the worship at College Church and what I will be learning.

Sounds like this meeting was very productive. I had a similar meeting with my senior pastor. I think the most improtant thing is to know that just because you had one meeting doesn't mean everything is in stone. Open communication during the whole process is key.

looks like you're going to be very busy with all of this! i'm so glad i'm not the only one!
it probably helps that you already know Emily ... it seems like it's usually easier to get things accomplished when you already had the connections made previously. i hope everything goes great for you - how exciting to be helping leading worship!

sounds like you are going to have a great practicum experience. College Church has been my home church all my life and the people there are great. I hope that you have a great practicum experience. Trying to balance eveything can be quite tough. good luck!

Hey Joel- Sound like it was a very good meeting that you had. Sounds like you are excited and ready to jump into this practicum. My practicum leader also has a few challenges planned for me as well. It is very important to know you leader so that you will be able to follow them even more. Have fun with this practicum and stay focused on Jesus!
