Making a power point presentation.
The use of power point projection has become important in our worship services today, and this week I had the opportunity to produce some slides for the music for the Sunday morning service. I enjoy making presentations like this. But when Emily asked me to do this, she didn’t provide the music for the songs so I was responsible for finding the lyrics. This was somewhat frustrating because the songs were hymns and I have not had to find hymns online before. But once I found them the process was simple: copy and paste.
I realize how important of a job this is. This slide show can have the ability to hinder a service if not done well. Also the layout and background can be important to help draw the congregation into worship. Sometimes I do get frustrated with the idea of a slideshow for worship because I find that it makes it easy to just read and sing and not really reflect on the worship itself. But if used correctly in the service, this is a useful tool that allows worshipers to follow and lift up their voices as one to praise our heavenly father.

hey! i agree, power points must be well done if they are going to be useful and not a distraction. there's nothing quite like singing a song and realizing that the words have been mispelled on the powerpoint (especially big words like JESUS!!) it's really embarrassing for whoever did it.
i think the layout and background are also important because they really kind of set the mood but really shouldn't be so fancy that they draw attention away from God.
i really enjoy reading your posts because it really seems that you're observing and learning so much from your practicum experience. and as a result, you have so much insight to share! have a great day! - laura campbell
